Fluid, silky garments with modular styling options inspired by my Chinese-Indonesian ethnicity, especially as a second-generation immigrant.
Those with mixed ethnicities and/or immigrant histories experience unique intersections of cultures, allowing for novel fusions. Similarly, wearers are able to deconstruct and combine the garments to their personal preferences, mimicking the dualities of liberation and confinement, growth and loss, belonging and alienation, etc.
The mini collection features hand-drawn and dyed batik tulis textiles--a traditional Indonesian wax-resist dyeing technique--and boiled shibori textures. Water, particularly ocean waves and rust, are inspirations throughout the collection.
